Southside ReLeaf invites you to join us during Richmond Tree Week as we tend to the invasive species encroaching on the green spaces at Blackwell Park.

Brief Organizational Description: 

Our mission is to improve health outcomes and the quality of life for Southside Richmond by building green spaces and advocating for people-centered policy. 

Volunteer Position Description and Purpose:

Volunteers will be assisting with removal of invasive species to minimize their growth and help beautify the park.  In honor of Richmond Tree Week sponsored by Reforest Richmond, our efforts will focus on freeing trees from the encroachment of invasive species.

Volunteer Duties & Responsibilities:

Volunteers will be removing any invasive species from the trees along the property edge.  Removal may include bending and kneeling.  

Qualifications, Skills, & Requirements:

No special skills are required to be successful in this project.  

Time Commitment:

Tuesday, October 15, 2024  11a - 2p (3 hours)

Other Information (if applicable):

  • Volunteers will be marked in the CFEngage system.  If you need a signature to document attendance, please bring your form with you.

  • Please wear long pants and closed toe shoes.  

  • Please bring a refillable water bottle.  You are welcome to bring your own gloves.  Gloves and tools will be provided.
