RISAW: Wrap Up

Richmond Invasive Species Awareness Week (RISAW) Wrap Up Event with the JRPS Invasive Plant Task Force. This event is family friendly and all ages are invited!

LEARN:

Learn to identify and remove invasive plant species, why they are a problem, and the importance of native plants for a healthy local ecosystem.

GUIDED WALKS:

Enjoy an informative woodland walk with local experts.

SCAVENGER HUNT:

Participate in a scavenger hunt for native and invasive species.

SHEEP AND LAMBS:

Watch RVAGoats/GrazeVA sheep and lambs eat privet, winter creeper and English ivy! Yay!

VOLUNTEER:

Drop in and remove a plant or two, or register to attend a two hour event.

Look for more RISAW events this week where you can volunteer to work with staff, the task force, and other park lovers to remove invasive vines and shrubs that can overwhelm native plants and reduce biodiversity. Tool are provided. Pre-registration is encouraged.

Parking is available in the public lot at 4001 Riverside Drive. Please park and walk over the tracks to cross into the park. Overflow parking is available in the neighborhood, at the 42nd St lot, or at Forest Hill Park.
