Brief Organizational Description:
Gilpin Community Garden is host to youth programming operated by the Kinfolk Collective in the heart of Jackson Ward and is one of the 25 Richmond Grows Gardens locations.
Volunteer Duties & Responsibilities:
To prepare for the upcoming growing season, work at the garden will include:
Weeding
Mulching
Trash clean up
Removing invasives
Buildling garden beds & Compost bins
Qualifications, Skills, & Requirements:
Closed toe shoes
Personal water bottles
Ability to lift 10 pounds
Bending & squatting
Grabbing & pulling
Use of tools such as shovels, hand cultivators, wheel barrows, & drills
Time Commitment:
Janurary 11th, 11am-3pm
Other Information (if applicable):
Street parking only for this event.
The safest, most accessable way to enter the garden is from Calhoun St. close to the community center.
If you cross from St Peters st., for your safety, please cross where the road is straight and not curving.
Volunteers signed up for Inaugural Day of Service projects are invited to join us for a Kickoff event on Friday January 10th from 4-6 pm at Midtown Green. You will receive a link to register after you sign up for the volunteer project. Thank you for your participation!
